Position Overview



As a

Stitcher Bindery Operator

, you will play a crucial role in the finishing process of our print production. Your primary responsibility will be to set up, operate, and maintain stitcher machines and associated bindery equipment. You will ensure that products are assembled accurately, efficiently, and with the highest attention to detail, meeting both our company's standards and our clients' expectations. In addition, please note that shifts are scheduled on a rotating basis, alternating between days and evenings to best support our production needs while offering flexibility to our team members.

Key Responsibilities



Set up and operate stitcher machines, including but not limited to saddle stitchers, side stitchers, and other specialized bindery equipment. Read and interpret job tickets and specifications to determine production requirements (e.g., stitch type, paper size, number of pages). Perform quality checks throughout the production process to ensure finished products meet company and client standards. Monitor machine operation, make necessary adjustments, and troubleshoot minor equipment issues to maintain smooth workflow. Load materials (covers, signatures, inserts) into the machine for processing, ensuring correct order and orientation. Coordinate with other bindery team members, including operators of cutters, folders, and trimmers, to ensure efficient workflow and on-time delivery. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment, reporting major issues to the maintenance department as needed. Maintain accurate production and maintenance records as required. Observe all safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized work environment. Assist with other bindery tasks and support team members as required, including manual binding, packaging, and shipping preparation.

Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in print production or machinery operation an asset. Experience operating bindery or print finishing equipment, especially stitchers, is highly preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to read, understand, and follow job specifications and safety instructions. Physical capability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks. Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to work independently and with others. Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime or occasional weekends, as production demands require.
Starting Wage $20.00/Hour depending on qualification. plus evening premium.
