Position Overview: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented
Dental Sterilization Assistant
to join our team. This crucial role is essential for maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety by ensuring all dental instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use.
Key Responsibilities
Perform the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of all dental instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners, performing routine maintenance checks and documenting results.
Prepare and set up treatment rooms for each patient procedure, ensuring all necessary sterile instruments and supplies are available and correctly organized.
Manage dental supply inventory, track stock levels, and notify supervisors when reordering is necessary.
Adhere to all provincial and federal health and safety regulations (e.g., IPAC, OSHA) and ensure compliance with sanitation protocols.
Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials and sharps waste.
Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Assist the dental team (dentists, hygienists, and assistants) with general clinical support and operatory turnover as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Previous clinical or sterilization experience in a dental or medical setting is a strong asset, but on-the-job training may be provided for the right candidate.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision in following safety procedures.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a fast-paced workflow independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Knowledge of dental terminology and software (e.g., Dentrix) is an asset.
Reliability, punctuality, and a positive, patient-first mindset.
