Sterilization Assistant

Dental Receptionist/ Administrator needed for Established West Toronto Practice (Bloor St W and Jane St)
We are an established but growing family dental practice in
West Toronto (at Bloor St W and Jane St)
with 4 chairs (1 dentist, 2.5 hygienists) looking for a friendly, flexible, easy-going, eager-to-learn receptionist ideally with a
minimum of 1 years'
experience
in reception (but not required),
interested in getting into the dental field as a receptionist and sterilization assistant. The position will be split between front desk and back clinical area.
Your responsibilities will be shared between:
(1) The clinical area: assisting the lead dental assistant with reprocessing dental instruments and dental operatory room turnover as needed
and;
(2) The reception area: You will be responsible for helping the lead receptionist with front desk duties using our office management software (Oryx) : recare calls, submitting treatment planning, referrals and intake of specialist reports, dental predeterminations, billing and dealing with dental insurance when not needed for clinical duties.
You will be required to cover the reception area when the lead receptionist is off and basic dental assisting duties when the lead dental assistant is off.
The successful candidate will possess:

The successful applicant will receive any needed training as part of onboarding, once on payroll (ie. paid and after official start date), including:
(1) Online modules to introduce you to dental terminology, dental administration and reception basics, and our software program (Oryx),
(2) limited one-on-one training sessions on office-specific protocols, on-the-job training with one of our team members
(3) Online module to receive your certification in IPAC and Reprocessing of Medical Devices (if you are not already certified) , as well as on-the-job training with our dental assistant and hygienist
Required hours:
Monday: 8:45 AM - 4:45 PM/ 5:15 PM = 7.0-7.5 billable hours (7.5-8.5 H day, with a 1h unpaid lunch)
Tuesday: 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM/ 4:15 PM = 7.0-7.5 billable hours (7.5-8.5 H day, with a 1h unpaid lunch)
Wednesday: 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM/ 3:45 PM = 7.0-7.5 billable hours (7.5-8.5 H day, with a 1h unpaid lunch)
Thursday: 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM/ 4:15 PM = 7.0-7.5 billable hours (7.5-8.5 H day, with a 1h unpaid lunch)
Friday: 7:15 AM - 12:15 PM = 5.0 billable hours (no lunch)
Total: 32.0 to 35.0 billable hours
NOTE: an 8.0 H work day Mon to Thurs (and 5.0 H on Friday) may be discussed
Note re: hours. Should you prefer to start later and therefore end later to "close" the day, that may be able to be accommodated for some of (but not all, and not the majority) your days, in coordination with the preference of the lead receptionist and can be discussed after you are hired.
Commute
: We are located at Bloor St and Jane St, just steps from Jane Station. We are best accessed by public transit (Jane station), biking or walking. Parking is not available in the building. There are numerous nearby Green P lots, side street parking is possible with some effort.

Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office, data entry, and clerical tasks
Strong customer service skills with experience in front desk operations
Familiarity with multi-line phone systems and phone etiquette
Office experience preferred
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Medical or dental office experience a plus
Detail-oriented with the ability to handle filing and administrative tasks efficiently
Hourly rate:
Starting rate will be commensurate with your: (1) level of experience/ amount of training needed and (2) my assessment of your skills at an in-person interview:
(1) dental administration/ reception tasks
(2) sterilization technician duties
$19.00: <2yr reception/ admin (non dental-specific) & do not have sterilization technician certification or experience
$19.50-$20.00: >2yr reception (non dental-specific) & have sterilization technician certification and experience
$20.00- $20.50: <2yr reception/ admin experience (dental-specific), with OR without sterilization technician certification and experience
$21.00-$22.00: > 2 years reception/ admin experience (dental-specific), without sterilization technician certification and experience
$22.50+: >2 years dental-specific reception/ admin experience and have sterilization technician certification and experience
