Job Description

If you like playing with cool tech toys love to write code to create fun educational games and apps, and have the patience and passion to teach young kids, then Code-it Hacks is the right place for you to work. You will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in a variety of technologies, learn the good, bad and the ugly of the up-and-coming tech trends.

This job requires in-person presence. Programs take place at our on-site location in High various schools across GTA.

You must be available to work from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at least 2 weekdays.



Responsibilities



Teach students coding concepts via our play-based curriculum in block-based coding, PYTHON, JAVA, C# etc. Following Code-it Hacks methodology pre-defined templates, update lesson plans and gaming projects (i.e., write your own code) to suit your teaching style Form student teams based on knowledge and personality, to foster a collaborative working environment Document class progress to share with parents after each class Think beyond the proposed curriculum and projects to add more unique projects to offer to students Must prepare for the class thoroughly prior to class Classroom setup and cleanup Send out weekly parent communication emails

MUST HAVE:



A creator mindset A friendly, patient, creative mindset to work with young children Must be in the field of engineering or computer science or be able to demonstrate required skills Sound working knowledge of at least one of the programming languages: Python, C#, C++ or JAVA A thorough understanding of the Object-oriented programming A portfolio of gaming projects (At least two or three games you have created using either Python or Java). Be prepared to share and walk us through your project link Some understanding and/or simple projects done using Machine learning Some understanding of web application development Sound documentation and presentation skills. Ability to articulate and create complex technical content in a simplified and easy to follow manner Be able to teach young kids and teens in a playful manner Great imagination

Nice-to-have:



Working portfolio of gaming and AI projects Experience with web application development Experience with microcontroller boards such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc. Experience with 3D designs and prints Love of Dungeon and Dragons, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. are nice to have and will have our respect
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 - 20 per week
