Linmark Steel Inc. is a CWB Certified structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and installation company specializing in commercial, industrial, and major infrastructure projects. Our head office is located in Calgary, Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
The foreman's duties are structured into three main areas:
Crew and Project Management
Supervise and lead
a team of 10-15 steel fabricators, welders,fitters, and laborers providing mentorship and guidance.
Coordinate and schedule daily work assignments
to ensure optimal workflow and resource allocation.
Monitor project progress
against deadlines and budget, reporting any issues or delays to management.
Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders
to accurately execute projects according to specifications.
Supervise
and coordinate welding operations to meet project requirements. Ensure compliance with welding codes, standards and specififcations set by the CWB.
Facilitate training
for new and existing employees, promoting skill development and adherence to industry best practices.
Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC)
Implement and enforce
a robust QA/QC program in line with industry standards such as the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
Conduct regular in-process inspections
to ensure all work meets project specifications and quality requirements.
Perform final product inspections
to verify dimensions, weld quality, and overall craftsmanship before final delivery.
Document and report
any non-conforming materials or work, and lead the team in implementing corrective actions.
Maintain meticulous records
of all QA/QC checks, inspections, and test results for traceability.
Safety and Maintenance
Champion a proactive safety culture
, ensuring all team members strictly adhere to company safety policies and provincial safety regulations
Conduct regular safety meetings and "toolbox talks"
to review potential hazards, safe work procedures, and emergency protocols.
Oversee the safe operation, routine maintenance, and inspection
of all shop equipment, including welding machines, saws, drills, and overhead cranes.
Promptly report
any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment.
Manage and track material inventory
, and submit requisitions for new supplies in a timely manner to avoid project delays.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Extensive experience
in a steel fabrication or welding environment, with a minimum of 5-10 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Expert knowledge
of various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and fabrication techniques.
Strong understanding
of quality control and quality assurance principles, with a demonstrated focus on attention to detail.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
to effectively manage a team and collaborate with management.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting
complex blueprints and technical drawings.
Certifications
- CSA 47.1 and CSA-W186
Physical stamina
and ability to perform hands-on work in a shop environment, including lifting heavy materials as required.
Paid Overtime would
be required based on client needs, timelines and job site requirements
