About the Position

We are seeking a Steel Detailer to join our team.

What you will do:

Develop shop and erection drawings for miscellaneous and structural steel using Tekla Review drawings and other documentation to determine information required for drafting Perform structural modeling and detailing from externally provided engineering packages Prepare detail drawings of structural and miscellaneous metals and connections Prepare DXF files for part drawings, as well as material list, cutting sheets & shipping lists Provide technical clarifications to shop personnel as required Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications, design data and building codes, and ensure any changes in scope are reported to the Operations Manager Comply with requirements of the design drawings and with CISC standards and CWB codes Attend meetings with engineers and technicians, and facilitate communication with clients Work with field supervisor for needed site measurements and missing information Initiate and prepare RFI's (Request For Information) and follow-up as needed Work along with a connection engineer on connections and schedules Salary based on experience

Who we're looking for:

Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel detailing Proficient in the use of Tekla Structures A diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or another relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institution, or related work experience Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural and architectural design drawings Knowledge in building codes and CISC and AISC standards for structural steel, as well as provincial building codes, AWS and CWB welding symbols Exceptional attention to detail Excellent communication skills to maintain frequent contact with general contractors and other outside parties for clarification and/or explanation Self-starter and person with a passion for steel construction, and a desire to excel in the industry

Permanent, Full-time - No remote working

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, flexible hours in between facility opening times of 6am to 4pm.
