:Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the Assistant Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for various accounting functions, including but not limited to revenue reconciliations, audit reviews, bank reconciliations, tax reporting, month end journal entry recording, and accounting reconciliations.They ensure adherence to all policies and procedures while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Must be collaborative, excel at multi-tasking, and display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Above all else, the Staff Accountant must embrace, be aligned with, and help enhance Casino Nova Scotia\'s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible to verify, record, and reconcile daily banking transactions
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and record banking entries, including cage, player winning, credit card transactions, interest, and fees
  • Reconcile cash flow for all revenue sources and record revenue related entries
  • Inventory Reconciliation
  • Review AP accruals
  • Responsible for intercompany clearing and billing and related entries
  • Assist Department Managers with financial inquiries
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual working papers, reports, and general ledger reconciliations
  • Achieve timely and accurate month/quarter-end closes; support related audits
  • Ensures compliance with Internal Controls, NS Gaming Regulations, and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complies with licensing laws, health & safety, and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other finance related projects as assigned or directed
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with guests, employees, and regulators

Education and Qualifications
  • Post Secondary education in accounting/finance or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • 5 years of work experience preferred
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective, and service oriented communication
  • Excellent Excel Skills- Advance user is a must.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and accounting software.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates currently working toward an accounting designation
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
