About the Role:
As the firm continues to grow, we are seeking a Staff Accountant that is responsible for executing a range of accounting, tax, and assurance assignments in accordance with firm standards. This includes performing compilation (Notice to Reader), review, and audit engagements; preparing financial statements; and completing personal and corporate tax filings. The position requires strong attention to detail, a client-service mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Assurance Duties
Prepare and complete Compilation (Notice to Reader), progressing into Review and Audit engagements
Prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE and/or applicable standards
Ensure files are properly documented and meet firm and regulatory quality standards
Tax Compliance
Prepare and file corporate and personal income tax returns
Identify basic tax planning opportunities during file preparation
Client Interaction
Gather, verify, and analyze client financial data
Maintain effective communication with clients to clarify documentation or follow up on outstanding items
Internal Collaboration and File Management
Work collaboratively with other accountants, managers, and administrative staff
Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date file documentation
Ensure adherence to budgets, timelines, and deadlines
Qualifications:
Education: University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Designation: Enrollment in the CPA PEP program (or intent to enroll) required
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in public accounting preferred
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Caseware / Caseview is an asset
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills

Occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., tax season, year-end audits)
Regular in-person work Monday to Friday
Career Progression:
This role provides foundational experience in public practice and may lead to progressive opportunities within the firm, including Senior Accountant and Manager roles, subject to performance and CPA completion.
