We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys working independently, eager to learn, and enjoys tackling a variety of files.

Role Responsibilities



Assist supervisor with the preparation of review engagements.

Lead and prepare compilation engagement working paper files, financial statements and corporate tax returns.

Assist with Virtual CFO client functions including maintaining books, preparing monthly reports and communicating with the clients.

Prepare corporate tax returns including investment income and group corporate structures.

Prepare personal tax returns, including rental and self employment income schedules.

Support tax planning work including remuneration planning, corporate reorganizations, estate/trust considerations, and corporate tax optimization strategies.

Assist clients with establishing and maintaining their bookkeeping systems

Qualifications



University bachelors degree with a specialization in Accounting, Enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset

1-3 years of experience in a public accounting firm preferred.

Previous experience preparing corporate year ends, personal and corporate tax returns and other related filings is required.

Experience using Caseware or TaxPrep is considered a strong asset

Experience with bookkeeping software including Quickbooks Online is required, other online platforms such as Xero, Wave or Sage are a strong asset

Excellent communication skills in English; bilingualism, especially English and French or any other language skill is a strong asset

Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

This role is hybrid: 3 days on site and 2 from home (our office is located in Nepean, in the west end of Ottawa)

Paid time off - 3 weeks of vacation, all Fridays off during the month of July and August and an end of year holiday shut down (2-3 days)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
