Applications are invited for the following position:

POSITION SCOPE:

Responsible to the Director of Financial Services & IT, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of internal financial statements and providing payroll support, in accordance with the goals, mission, and philosophy of Core Support Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders Prepare various month end journal entries Prepare monthly bank reconciliations Prepare monthly billings Monthly HST rebate preparation and submission General ledger account reconciliations Review and posting of cash receipts and deposits Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable maintenance and reconciliations Petty Cash reconciliations Monitor Client Trust Accounts Employee benefits/pension plan reconciliation and audit Performs payroll audits Assist and provide back up for bi-weekly payroll preparation Participates in in-services and staff development programs based on continued learning Participates in Centre Committees and meetings as directed by the Director of Financial Services & IT

QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess certificate in formal accounting training from a recognized Community College or University. Preference will be given to applicants that possess a CPA designation; enroll in the CPA program or willingness to obtain the CPA designation. 3 - 5 years related experience in accounting.
