Key job responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical design and delivery of software components.
  • Works closely with our customers and stakeholders to understand their requirements, analyzes various technical options and proposes solutions with proof of concept.
  • Translates the proposals into technical design, coordinates development effort with other SDEs, tests and delivers features in production.
  • Performs code reviewers for peer engineers and provides constructive feedback.
  • Ensures that the solutions proposed are logical, testable, maintainable, and efficient.
  • Drives engineering best practices for continuous process improvements in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
A day in the life
A Software Development Engineer (SDE) at Amazon works on real world problems on a global scale, owns their systems end to end and influences the direction of our technology that impacts hundreds of millions of customers around the world. You can expect to design flexible scalable, and complex solutions in large-scale computing by utilizing your skills in data structures, algorithms, and object oriented programming. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
