In consultation with your Manager, you allocate resources to ensure that the legislated deadlines for processing transactions are respected. Supervising and leading a team of Mapping Registration Technicians (MRTs), you provide technical direction to MRT staff on mapping issues, liaising between the program owner and staff as required. You may also be called upon to advise the Regional Manager on operational and technical issues affecting property mapping functions, such as mapping processes and file improvement.Primary Accountabilities

  • Ensuring that MRTs (Mapping Registration Technicians) are trained in all aspects of mapping procedures, and kept current on evolving procedural and policy changes;
  • Maintaining the integrity and quality of the province\'s cadastre, using knowledge of land survey standards, governing legislation and regulations relating to real property, departmental program policy and procedures and digital mapping techniques;
  • Performing transactional audits and quality control checks to ensure that the mapping duties are carried out consistently and in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Program Owner;
  • Providing land ownership, size and location data to Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC) required for accurate property assessment and oversees all land related assessment appeals and inquires;
  • Reviewing and approving the work completed by MRTs on appeals under the Assessment Act, relating to ownership, location and size of property, based on current mapping policies and procedures.
Qualifications and ExperienceTo be considered for this position, you have completed a diploma from a recognized program that includes courses in survey principles and practices, and property law. In addition, you possess a minimum of 6 years in a related field. An acceptable equivalent may be considered. A minimum of 2 years experience as a property mapper in the program is required. In addition, you possess:
  • Expertise of property mapping in a computerized environment, with demonstrated knowledge and ability to determine the accuracy and quality of the cadastre and of information provided;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Well developed interviewing skills to effectively deal with clients whose actions are strongly influenced by the sensitive nature of the issues;
  • Specific knowledge of land related programs, policies, procedures and applicable legislative requirements;
  • The ability to react and adjust positively to changes in the work environment and to technologies;
  • The ability to train and coach staff;
  • Excellent decision-making abilities and attention to detail on complex issues with a well ordered and logical approach to analyzing and solving problems;
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, to plan, monitor, complete and perform quality control while maintaining accuracy, meeting service level targets and deadlines;
  • Extensive working knowledge of database software to access the NSPRD such as LIN_NS, Property On-line (POL) and IasWorld and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet browsers.
