Introduction

We are looking for a permanent full-time

Sr. Mechanical Designer

to join either our Saskatoon, Regina, or Calgary team! This position will be reporting to the Mechanical Design Supervisor.

Position Overview

Primary Responsibilities

Create 3D CAD models (mechanical and layout) for brown- and green-field projects in the mining and heavy industrial sectors Interpret engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for piping, process equipment, material handling equipment, dust collection, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems (HVAC), and structural systems (e.g., buildings, plants, trestles, platforms, and concrete) Create drawings and specifications for piping, process equipment, material handling equipment, dust collection, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems (HVAC), and structural systems (e.g., buildings, plants, trestles, platforms, and concrete foundations) Create general arrangement drawings for piping, material handling equipment, dust collection and HVAC equipment, and supporting structures Assist in the preparation of bill of materials and cost estimates Maintain efficient inter-disciplinary communication Inspect mechanical installations and construction Assist in the preparation of proposal documents Mentor junior Mechanical Designers Site visits may be required to take field measurements and gather relevant site/project information Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Formal education and training in mechanical drafting and design from a recognized institution 10+ years of relevant experience Significant experience in 3D modeling in Autodesk software packages such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant3D, and Navisworks is a requirement for this position Experience in the mining industry and/or experience in heavy industrial work with brown- and green-field projects Hands on and extensive experience in one of the following modeling and drafting software is considered an asset: Bentley MicroStation, AVEVA E3D or similar Experience in SolidWorks, Bentley Openbuildings, AutoCAD MEP, and Revit is considered an asset Working knowledge in material handling of bulk solids Detail-oriented with a passion to create high quality deliverables Must be able to work as part of a team and independently Excellent communication skills
