Position Overview:



The

Sr. Manager, Treasury & Risk

plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization's financial assets and ensuring optimal capital structure and liquidity management. This leadership position oversees enterprise financial risk, treasury operations, cash forecasting, debt compliance, and investment strategies. Working cross-functionally, the incumbent ensures the organization is compliant with financial policies, regulatory standards, and credit requirements while delivering value through strategic insights and financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

Treasury Management:

Lead and oversee all treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, cash positioning, and intercompany funding strategies. Manage banking relationships to optimize services, reduce fees, and ensure favorable credit terms. Oversee short-term and long-term liquidity planning to support operational and strategic initiatives. Review and authorize wire transfers and banking transactions, ensuring appropriate controls are in place. Develop treasury policies, including cash handling, banking authority matrices, and investment strategies.

Risk Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including foreign exchange, interest rate exposure, credit risk, and liquidity risk. Collaborate with insurance brokers and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal insurance coverage and risk mitigation. Implement and maintain enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks and tools for evaluating financial risk across business units. Conduct periodic risk assessments and present findings to the executive leadership team and audit committee.

Capital & Debt Management:

Monitor and manage corporate debt covenants and compliance with credit agreements. Lead financing initiatives, including refinancing, capital structure optimization, and working capital facilities. Support strategic planning related to capital expenditures, funding requirements, and investment proposals.

Governance, Compliance & Reporting:

Ensure treasury activities are compliant with internal policies, SOX (if applicable), and external regulatory requirements. Prepare and present monthly treasury and risk reports for senior leadership, including dashboards on liquidity, counterparty risk, and compliance indicators. Manage financial risk disclosures for quarterly and annual reports in alignment with IFRS or GAAP standards.

Leadership & Strategic Partnership:

Lead, coach, and mentor a team of treasury and risk professionals to build financial acumen and leadership capacity. Partner with internal departments (Legal, Operations, Tax, Procurement) to align treasury and risk initiatives with broader corporate objectives. Serve as a key contributor to scenario planning, M&A due diligence, and enterprise strategic initiatives.

Skills & Competencies:

Treasury Management:

Understanding and applying treasury principles, including cash flow management, liquidity management, and investment strategies.

Risk Management:

Identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, including interest rate risk, currency risk, and credit risk.

Financial Analysis:

Interpreting complex financial data to make informed decisions and provide strategic recommendations, including ability to identify trends and potential risks

Analytical Skills:

Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and interpret results to make informed decisions is crucial

Business Acumen:

Strong understanding of how the business functions and the context in which financial data is used.

Accounting Knowledge:

Thorough understanding of GAAP and ASPE

Time Management / Organizational Skills:

Prioritizing tasks, balancing multiple priorities, meeting departmental deadlines and ensuring accuracy.

Problem Solving

: Ability to identify and resolve financial issues efficiently.

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey financial information to all levels of stakeholders in an understandable manner

Soft Skills:

Effective verbal & written communication; ability to build rapport with diverse teams; leadership capability, ability to work in collaboration with others; ability to effectively prioritize and adaptable.

Qualifications:

Education & Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline (required). CPA, CFA, or CTP designation (strongly preferred). Master's degree in Finance or Business Administration (an asset).

Experience:

Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, treasury, or risk management, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role. Demonstrated experience in cash flow management, banking relationships, debt financing, and financial risk analysis. Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment is highly desirable.
