Job Summary

The Sr. Hardware Design Engineer will be based in Kanata Ontario or Markham Ontario. The role supports a team of design engineers across a wide variety of product types. You will solve complex problems and generate new ideas for a global organization, while utilizing creativity and innovation to develop your skills. You will be Involved on projects which matter to the business and our customers and ultimately help achieve our company's goals.

What a typical day looks like:

Work on leading edge Automotive designs in the emerging autonomous and compute space.

Support the hardware design for new products, develop, modify and evaluate electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications.

Assist in the development to implement solutions on multiple designs and products.

Perform design analysis including WCCA and DFMEA.

Create design documentation including details design specifications, HSI report, and detailed test plans.

Execute design verification with minimal technical assistance

Coordinate design activities. Write high level and detailed design specifications

Component selection

Create schematic design and PCB stack-up

Technical supervision of layout design

Review DFM and DFT reports

Prototype board bring-up, test validation, debug, and documentation

Design verification and optimization

Support manufacturing prototype, pilot and mass production builds

Foster relationships with suppliers to understand and influence technology road maps

Participate in quote development, product architecture, or technology development activities

Interfacing with cross functional design teams around the world

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

A minimum bachelor's degree in a related Electrical or Electronics Engineering discipline

Minimum of 8 years of design engineering experience, preferably in automotive industry

Experience designing 1000+ pin BGA devices such as ethernet switches, PCIe Switches, safety processors, GPUs, CPUs and DDR memory.

Extensive experience in the design of highly complex electrical designs incorporating power, analog and digital domains.

Strong knowledge of high-speed digital design

Proficient in the use of Cadence design software (HDL, CIS, System capture)

Proficient in the use of circuit simulation software such as Pspice, LT-spice

Strong verbal and technical writing skills

Strong analytical thinking skills

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

Familiar with automotive reliability requirements, and component selection for automotive electronics

Understanding of EMI/EMC principles and familiar with automotive EMC requirements and good design practices

Experience with worse case circuit analysis (extreme value, Monte Carlo, stress analysis).

Understanding and experience in Functional Safety aspects of automotive products

Experience in power integrity and signal integrity simulation

Experience being actively involved in all aspect of design from concept to mass production.

Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others

Self-motivated, high energy and strong time management skills

Demonstrated leadership skills and team oriented

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Ability to take lead and drive for results
