The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Transmission Capital Execution to join the Energy Delivery Capital Execution team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Contractor Management and Operations, you will lead a team of professionals at our Lakeside location where we offer you a hybrid work option.

As the Senior Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Transmission Capital Execution, you are the leader of a team of field and office staff focused on the safe and reliable execution of the annual capital plans for the Transmission Line system. This position will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, project management oversight of the execution of transmission capital projects.

This includes liaising with field operations, scheduling, execution of contracts, site management, forecasting and cost controls, procurement processes, environmental and safety management, project reporting, project commissioning and close out. You will be required to work closely with members of technical services and other operating groups to ensure projects are successfully implemented. The transmission team is also responsible to respond to all outage events on the system, this requires 24/7 response from the team.

You will be responsible for monitoring a portfolio of projects and ensuring appropriate action is taken to address all risks and issues. You will provide leadership, direction and motivation to the team and other project resources. Furthermore, you will provide consistent progress updates on these projects to relevant stakeholders and senior leadership.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that your teams, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.

  • A Bachelor\xc2\xb4s Degree in Engineering and full membership (or eligible for membership) in Engineers NS as well as suitable project management experience is expected.
  • As the ideal candidate, you possess experience in managing projects and previous leadership/management experience would also be an asset.
  • You have an understanding of utility operations, major equipment, and regulated utility and operating environments.
