What Is the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Design Coordinator to join the GO Rail Expansion (RER) Project in the Greater Toronto Area. Ths successful candidate will report to the Senior Design Manager, liaising directly with the design team, the consultant team, the construction & project management team, contractors, and other members of the project team on a regular basis. The position is located out of our Downtown Toronto office.


What You'll Do Here

  • Coordinating drawings, narratives, and visual presentations for the design presentation meetings.
  • Support the preparation of project deliverables including tracking of RFI’s transmitting and tracking of submittals and composing agreements.
  • Coordinating the activities of the project’s technical issues and providing technical and administrative guidance to staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.
  • Managing designers’ performance in accordance with plans, by controlling the progress and costs.
  • Preparing and reviewing the technical submittal ensuring that they are issued in accordance with the specified design and quality standards.
  • Reviewing the design submissions for scope elimination, identifying design or interdisciplinary issues, ensuring that constructability and construction’s means and methods are coordinated with the Construction Team.
  • Identifying potential problems that may occur during the construction process which were not identified in the final design and coordinate with the Designer and the Construction team to find a solution.
  • Tracking document submittals, documenting, and reporting progress and alerting the team member of risks related to potential delays.
  • Reviewing the Designer’s monthly invoice and all the required reporting.
  • Preparing Task Orders and following the actions with the design consultants.



What You Bring to the Team
  • A degree/ diploma in Design (Architecture or Interior Design) or Construction Project Management from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of similar work experience.
  • Technical Skills: AutoCAD, BIM software, Bluebeam, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project) Autodesk.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Building Code.
  • Previous working experience in Rail Projects or Transit is considered an asset.
  • A strong eye for design details and the ability to assist in making design-driven decisions.
  • Previous experience in civil, system, electrical, communication and construction would be considered a definite asset.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to lead discussions with the partners, clients, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated strong team work ethics and decision-making skills.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
