The Business Technology Specialist serves as an advisor and partner between the CIO/business/group and Engineering/Enterprise Tools to provide subject matter expertise for Enterprise tools relative to Cloud Engineering. The incumbent understands the implications of various components (including technology strategy & architecture), to the overall design of a program, system, or eco-system. Evaluating new technologies for fit with the program/system/eco-system and the associated upstream and downstream impacts on process, data, risk (e.g., security), the BTS defines and documents efficient and transparent architectural principles, standards, and guidelines regarding the proper use and deployment of business applications, data, and technology within the Bank. In partnering with broader internal stakeholders to define architectural possibilities and futures, the BTS works with business and development teams to recommend processes or system design enhancements, while ensuring that systems are functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated.

  • Leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.
  • Develops the business case by identifying needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment.
  • Determines priorities, current, planned initiatives, and support requirements related to strategic management of the business/group in partnership with the business/group.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between the CIO/business/groups and Engineering/Enterprise Tools and ensures alignment between stakeholders. Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Defines business requirements for analytics & reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision making.
  • Leads new development, integration, and enhancement of IT systems and technology, including critical applications.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Leads the development of the communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behaviour.
  • Leads or participates in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels.
  • Supports business in production support, system enhancements, product upgrades and development.
  • Provides expertise to establish key business initiatives/priorities to support & sustain the strategic direction.
  • Supports the IT transformation agenda and ensures business & technology needs align.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Acts as a thought leader in development, builds deeper relationships with key stakeholders, and demonstrates expert-level skills in coding across multiple languages, LOB's, and/or technology areas.
  • Tracks metrics and milestones, makes recommendations for resolution and escalates as appropriate when issues arise.
  • Supports development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stays abreast of industry technical/business trends competitive insights and best practices through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning.
  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
  • Implements changes in response to shifting trends.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Typically, 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
  • Expert knowledge of computer or network systems hardware and software theory, practice, concepts and technology relevant to organizational vision.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology and its applicability to successful delivery of technical change.
  • Able to manage ambiguity.
