POSITION: Sr. Business Specialist - Access Network

As part of Rogers "Access Network" Transformation and Continuous Improvement team the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the definition, development, and implementation plan for operational expenditure (opex) reduction activities aimed at increasing the efficiency and productivity of our national workforce through process, tool and people change management.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assess budget and financial forecast by expense category
  • Analyze and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and opex reductions
  • Use benchmark market data and best practices to develop opex reduction strategies and facilitate cost savings initiatives
  • Recommend cost cutting measures to reduce expenses where possible
  • Work with cross functional stakeholders and regional teams in identifying the improvement opportunities
  • Track and report progress on active opex reduction initiatives
  • Monitor and maintain sustainable savings over time
  • Administer Network Fleet governance activities and act as liaison with procurement
  • Define the strategy for and facilitate working sessions consisting of various levels of management and practitioners.
  • Determine the most effective approach for reaching agreements in a timely manner on contentious organizational issues
  • Identify and present the key business issues and resolutions requiring agreement by senior management to enable improvements to be institutionalized
  • Lead organizational definition, development, and implementation plan for opex reduction activities, providing training and identifying improvement metrics to track progress
  • Lead cross-functional working teams to deliver reduction in operating costs, specifics include:
  • Act as the liaison between Finance and the cross functional stakeholders within Technology and Access Network organization
  • Develop and obtain consensus on problem/opportunity statements
  • Work with front line staff to senior members of the Technology and Access Network organization
  • Discovery and Analysis of existing processes within the Access Network and Technology organization
  • Gather data, investigating cause-effect relationships, develop and obtain consensus on a suitable cost reduction action plan
  • Effectively facilitate process-mapping sessions to create "As-Is" and "To-be" process maps as required
  • Collect, analyze, review, document, and communicate business needs and requirements.
  • Ensure that business requirements are clearly identified, prioritized and satisfied by appropriate technical and or business process solutions
  • Lead the definition of test cases, validate business functionality and the overall solution delivery, and may be directly involved in the implementation test process
  • Benchmark opex reduction initiatives with comparable organizations
  • Learn and understand the tools and applications which support the business process within the Access Network Organization
  • Drive Network Access and Operations OPEX reduction initiative from conception to completion, ensuring partnership with functional and regional leadership

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates financial acumen and strong analytical skills. Performs forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of business impacts and results
  • Advanced problem solving and root cause analysis combined with proven ability to communicate those analysis
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and strong business sense; proven ability to manage new ideas and creative solutions; achieving effective results in a fast-paced, growing and ambiguous environment
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate data and make informed decisions and to determine the best strategies for implementing new processes, improving existing processes and reducing costs.
  • Able to influence decisions at multiple levels that will impact the Access Networks organization
  • Ability to make decisions about how to allocate resources, how to approach new projects and how to solve problems that can help achieve success
  • Advanced communication, consensus building, presentation and writing skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of the organization
  • Leadership skills to motivate your champions, stakeholders, and team of Subject Matter experts (SMEs) and encourage them to work together to achieve organizational goals
  • Lead the Champion (usually Director level) and working team through discovery, implementation, and deployment phases of opex reduction initiatives
  • Engineering, Finance, or equivalent degree preferred with 7 years of work experience or 10+ years relevant work experience
  • Specialization in Business Process Management / Telecommunications / Systems & Application Development/ Business Management
  • Strong customer focus and sensitivity to customer needs
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working with cross-functional teams, both horizontally and vertically diverse
  • Excellent people skills, whether 1:1 or in a group environment
  • Project Management experience, PMP certification an asset
  • Working knowledge of formal methodologies, such as Six Sigma and Lean Principles, LSS Blackbelt trained or certified an asset
  • Professional certification in business analysis, such as - IIBA CBAP or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Practiced Requirements Management experience
  • Process Management experience including process mapping
  • Strong statistical analysis and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with telecommunications technologies
  • Familiarity with either ITIL, eTOM or CMMi an asset
  • Energetic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
