Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Omni Channel Development team, taking effective ownership of developing data integration strategies, and creating various reporting streams that generate value-added actionable insights informing Retail Banking business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Sr. Analyst, Reporting & Insights, will play a key role in supporting the expansion of our reporting framework, improving our analytical processes, and sharing insights to multiple stakeholders. Responsible for delivering value-added analytics aimed at creating sustainable business growth focusing on reporting, Insights and data visualization.

Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Designing and creating reports, using data to analyze and improve our understanding of branch staff and customer behaviours, and monitoring the impact of strategic decisions and initiatives.

Design and develop new reports to support management including but not limited to - visualization tools such as Tableau & PowerBI, complex data and logic tools, SAS, SQL, and self-service dashboards.

Analyze data and evaluate results, identify emerging business issues, and prepare strategic recommendations for management.

Continuously acquire and enhance knowledge of business/product strategies, portfolio management principles, branch processes and procedures, regulatory requirements, and advanced analytical tools/methodologies in order to best provide business solutions.

Validating data extraction to ensure accuracy and accountability of reporting and insights.

Automates any recurring reports and visualizations to support key areas of the business

Supports the Senior Manager in the development, execution and management of reporting suites.

Leads the automation of reports on an ongoing basis to increase productivity, efficiency and accuracy of analysis.

Synthesize multiple data sources and research insights that capture human insights, convey ideas, and provoke new growth opportunities.

Present research insights that are actionable, compelling, and connected to the business strategy.

Partner with broader team members as subject matter expert to support enterprise business program priorities and strategic objectives.

Perform automation of data extraction, transformation and reporting processes to increase efficiencies.

Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

Education / Experience

Required - University degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Business Management or a related discipline.

Advanced SAS and/or SQL experience. Python/R are also preferred.

Expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI

Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret complex data, and be able to conclude meaningful insights.

Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking skills.

Excellent communication and presentation (written and verbal) is essential.

Understanding of Canadian retail banking.

Collaborative team player, Flexible, motivated, and results oriented.

Curious and passionate about data, data visualization and introducing automation.

Self-starter, with the ability to work well both independently and with teams and must be comfortable working in an environment with tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
