The Senior Analyst, Community Business is responsible for underwriting complex commercial credit applications for the small and medium sized business market and the real estate construction/investment property market. You will support the sales team by conducting appropriate due diligence and investigation of existing and prospective commercial borrowers and by preparing credit applications for new business loans, annual reviews, and amendments within the guidelines of commercial lending policies and procedures. You will provide high quality business loan underwriting advice and service that will enable the meeting of member needs, achievement of departmental business goals and support of social, environmental and community impact transactions.

The Team: The Senior Analyst, Community Business reports directly into the Manager Community Business Support.

A typical day would involve:

  • Performing timely and accurate analysis of information from commercial borrowers to determine risk involved in lending money to new and existing businesses.
  • Providing advice and collaborate with Commercial Account Managers to underwrite high-quality new business credit applications.
  • Performing annual reviews of existing business credit facilities to evaluate performance.
  • Working effectively with Risk Managers to achieve timely delivery of credit approvals.
  • Accompanying Commercial Account Managers on member meetings to participate in discussions on financial/structural aspects of new business loan requests.
  • Providing technical advice and expertise to Associate Analysts and Analysts to foster their professional development.

You have:
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and a demonstrated strength in the analysis and interpretation of financial data, commercial property appraisals and credit information.
  • Strong experience in structuring commercial credit.
  • Strong business writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Education & Experience
  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or similar professional experience.
  • Minimum of three years commercial lending experience.
Pay Band: 7
