We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in Surrey, British Columbia. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing financial processes, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting critical accounting functions. This role requires a strong understanding of reconciliations, month-end and year-end closings, and intercompany transactions.
Responsibilities:

• Perform reconciliations for accounts such as bank, financing, debt schedules, rent, prepaid expenses, and loans.

• Oversee and ensure the accuracy of month-end closings within a five-day timeframe.

• Support year-end closing procedures, completing tasks within a ten-day period.

• Manage intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.

• Prepare and maintain trial balances, including management of approximately 10 active accounts.

• Update year-end preparation schedules and assist with auditor requirements starting in January.

• Conduct journal entries and general ledger maintenance to ensure precise financial records.

• Utilize tools such as Excel and Great Plains Dynamics to streamline accounting processes.

• Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

• Proficiency in preparing and managing trial balances with attention to detail.

• Strong skills in month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Advanced knowledge of Excel, including formulas and data analysis.

• Familiarity with Great Plains Dynamics or similar accounting software.

• Solid understanding of general ledger and journal entry processes.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively within a team.
