Job Description


We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Markham, Ontario. This Contract-to-permanent position offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to both financial accounting and FP& A functions, with a primary focus on accounting operations. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex reconciliations, navigating general ledger accounts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage the general ledger and prepare journal entries to maintain proper financial records.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all deadlines are met and financial statements are prepared accurately.
  • Utilize SAP S/4HANA to extract trial balances and support financial reporting requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to trade accruals, including analyzing invoicing and pending payments.
  • Collaborate with accounts payable to ensure proper accrual processes are followed.
  • Support FP& A functions by preparing reports and analyzing monthly scrap totals.
  • Provide auditors with required documentation, such as trial balances, during year-end processes.
  • Deliver end-to-end completion of assigned tasks, taking ownership and working independently to achieve results.
  • Offer guidance and direction to ensure accounting processes align with best practices.
  • Proven experience in account reconciliation, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entry preparation.
  • Proficiency in SAP, particularly SAP S/4HANA, for financial data extraction and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close processes and meet strict deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of trade accruals and accounts payable processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
