Job Description


About the firm:

A firm in the service industry with a long history of servicing and advising their clients throughout Ontario and our Country.
In recent years they have expanded operations to additional convenient locations noted here in order to better meet their clients\' needs.

Essential Tasks:

  • Ownership of finalizing monthly trial balances for head office and all the branches and ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting for the holding co & subs.
  • Coordinate monthly and yearly closing processes(accruals, journals, schedules etc.).
  • Maintain and implements appropriate internal controls throughout the organization to maintain the integrity of the accounting system.
  • Supervision of Accounts Payable.
  • Supervision of monthly control account reconciliations which includes bank reconciliation.
  • Monthly reconciliation of direct bill commission receivables from insurance companies.
  • Maintained all continuity schedules relating to the financials such as Capital Assets, Prepayments, Deposits, Long Term Loans/promissory notes etc.
  • Preparation of annual Notice to Reader (NTR\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s)
  • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure the audit is conducted and completed satisfactorily in a timely manner.
  • Review monthly Operation Ratio reports/variance analysis and take necessary action to correct reported numbers.
  • Preparation of consolidated cash flow forecasts.
  • Work with VP of Finance on the preparation of budget files, financial reporting packs and other various analyses as needed.
Qualification and Experience:
  • Bachelor\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA or CFE candidate or international accounting designation (ideally a CA or ACCA)
  • Minimum 4-5 years of financial accounting experience with at least 2 years of supervision and \xe2\x80\x9chands-on\xe2\x80\x9dcandidate.
  • Sound accounting knowledge \xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x93ASPE/ IFRS.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially in Excel (advanced user) and exposure to business systems such as D365 would be an asset.
  • Attention to detail, organized, analytical, problem-solving skills and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
