Position Summary Reporting to the Financial Officer and the Director of Finance, the Finance Clerk is responsible for processing the day-to-day data entries for SqDC and the Sqewqel Gas Bar. Furthermore, the Finance Clerk is responsible for providing support to the Financial Officer as required. The Finance Clerk will play a critical role in strengthening the administrative functions necessary to providing outstanding financial reporting, data entry, and high levels of customer service. This position will help the organization perform efficiently and effectively by providing general office support, data entry, task prioritization, and other accounting-related functions, as required. Primary Responsibilities:
Processes invoices, travel claims, and reimbursement
Reconciles monthly vendor statements and researches problem invoices and receipts
Files Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable invoices
Receives daily mail
Prepares accounts payable
Ensures the accurate and timely completion of required paperwork
Prepares applications for pre-authorized payment plans with vendors
Assists in reconciliation of company credit cards and bank statements
Processes invoices, issues statements and records payments
Reconciles monthly customer statements
Processes invoice batches using recurring entries, contracts or invoice requests
Prepares accounts receivable statements and follows up with customers for payment
Assists customers with setting up direct deposits/other electronic transfers
Helps to identify potential bad debts
Monitoring and responding to email and phone inquiries
Improving filing systems and general office organization
Collecting and sorting incoming and outgoing mail
Other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working with Sage 50 is an asset
Must be able to work independently or as part of a team and demonstrated a good record of attendance
1-3 years experience within business administration/finance/human resources is preferred
Essential skills include time management, organizational abilities, attention to detail and people skills
Ability to deliver timely results despite obstacles and limited resources
Strong customer service skills and the ability to provide services in a prompt, respectful and unbiased manner
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and Outlook)
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements
Experience working with First Nations communities is considered an asset
Valid BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC)
