Job Summary

The City of Kelowna is looking for enthusiastic and responsible Spring Break Camp Instructors to lead fun, safe, and engaging activities for children during the spring break period. This role involves creating a positive and inclusive environment that promotes learning, teamwork, and active play. We offer part-time work throughout the 2 weeks of Spring break (March 16 - 27, between the hours of 7:45am - 4:15pm at Parkinson Rec Centre or Canyon Falls Middle School).

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver age-appropriate recreational activities, games, and crafts in a safe and structured setting. Supervise and engage participants to ensure a positive camp experience. Maintain a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and respect. Monitor and assist participants during swimming activities at Parkinson Recreation Centre pool, ensuring safety and adherence to aquatic guidelines. Ensure participant safety through proper supervision and adherence to City policies and safety protocols. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and City staff regarding schedules and program updates.

Qualifications

Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreation setting an asset. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to create a fun and supportive environment. Comfortable swimming with children and supervising swimming activities (lifeguards will be present at all times) Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
