Job Description

The Position

: The Spray Truck Operator/Paving Operator position is responsible for performing various duties on projects. The employee will generally work in the capacity of transferring between spray truck operation and Paving operation as required. This may also include operating a variety of hand and power tools.

Requirements:



Safety focus Class 5 License with air-break endorsement Previous experience operating an asphalt spray truck Understanding of asphalt emulsions, tack coat application techniques, and safety procedures is essential. Knowledge of the materials the crew will be using, most importantly from a quality management and health and safety perspective. These products include, but are not limited to, asphalt pavement, gravels, various pipe, precast concrete structures, castings, grout, geo textiles, expansion joint materials, form oil, curing compound, acids and ready mix concrete. Basic understanding of the properties of asphalt, concrete and gravels. Working knowledge of line and grade i.e. drawings, cut sheets, string lines, etc. Awareness of the information suppliers require, i.e.: specifications, load size, load spacing, order, order confirmation. Working knowledge of engineered drawings, cut sheets, job specifications and special provisions. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times Report to work at the designated start time Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary Be able to work overtime when required

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):



Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task Properly follow all company policies regulations for safe working procedures and environment Following direction of a Foreman as to daily tasks Operating Spray Truck to ensure correct application rate and uniform distribution Daily pre-trip inspections and minor maintenance of truck Tack Coating and surface preparation to pavement surface Prepping, digging, spreading, and levelling construction materials Lifting, carrying and holding material, tools and supplies Assisting in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices Review jobsite at end of work phase to ensure the site is left in a clean, safe state and that there are no issues with quality of workmanship, environment or public safety.

Pay: From $40.00 per hour

Paving Spray Truck Operation: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
