Job Summary



A Brief Overview



This position is responsible for the creative initiatives, production and design of digital marketing, promotions and communications content for all Athletics & Recreation programs, services and varsity clubs/teams. Further, this position is responsible for updating High Performance Sports and Recreation websites and coordination of all video, photography and webcasting requirements.


This position develops and implements a sports information media plan and oversees the established sports information budget. This position confirms materials are compliant with various leagues' sport regulations and reporting requirements. This position writes media releases, game previews/recaps, team personnel biographies, team performance highlights, awards nominations, and event or media guides, and prepares content for game day and season program. This position maintains statistical information and tracks performance and accomplishments of current and former athletes and coaches. This position also directs, allocates, and supervises the work of other staff.


The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work variable hours on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends. This position is subject to the Averaging provisions of the USW Local 2010 Collective Agreement.

What you will do


Develops and implements a sports information media plan that promotes and profiles athletics and recreation, and varsity teams, clubs, and events.



Supports the university's brand and public profile locally and globally.


Oversees the established sports information and digital content and design budget.


Confirms materials are compliant with various leagues' sport regulations, reporting deadlines, and overall procedures.


Ensures compliance protocols for reporting game results.


Profiles media releases, game previews/recaps, team personnel biographies, team performance highlights, awards nominations, and event or media guides and highlights community engagement initiatives.


Prepares graphics and digital content as required.


Prepares content for publications such as game day programs, season programs, season recaps/summaries, year-in-review, media notes/guides, and recruiting guides.


Coordinates content for video information boards, webcasts, and broadcasts.


Provides approved information to the media.


Organizes media requests, arranges interviews and photographs, and prepares speaking notes and key messages.


Maintains statistical information and tracks performance and accomplishments of current and former athletes and coaches.


Updates historical records, trophies, banners for all varsity teams and clubs.


Updates department websites.

Directs, allocates, and supervises the work of other staff.

Required Education

Three-year Community College Diploma or Three-Year Bachelor Degree, or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Required Experience

More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
