Your Opportunity:Are you a compassionate and experienced Speech Language Pathologist eager to make a difference in the lives of adult patients experiencing cancer? Are you looking to evolve your clinical skills while being part of a dedicated and dynamic team of clinicians? We are seeking a SLP to join our team in a permanent 0.4 FTE role as part of the inpatient and outpatient Rehabilitation Oncology program at the Cross Cancer Institute. Under general supervision of the Manager, the SLP will: Assess and treat speech and swallowing impairments and limitations related to cancer and its treatment. Develop individualized therapy plans to meet each patient's unique needs. Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care. Triage and manage referrals as well as case management and discharge planning. Provide education, learning sessions and case consultations (to patients, peers, students, staff). Collaborate with other health care professionals to develop patient education materials. Collaborate with AHS and community programs to facilitate continuity of care. Contribute quality improvement/research initiatives locally and provincially to help enhance SLP practice. Participate in ongoing professional development specific to oncology and palliative care. All caseloads and hours of work are subject to change based on operational need.Description:As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:Active Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS certification. Minimum 3 years working with adult inpatient or outpatient urban acute care or rehabilitation setting(s). Experience in the past year with referral triage and caseload management. Experience in the last two years working with an adult oncology population. Independently perform videofluroscopic swallow studies (VFSS) (e.g. modified barium swallow). Able to independently identify and manage conflict situations. Effective self-management and time management skills paired with initiative. Demonstrated ability to work within a patient-centered, interdisciplinary team of health care professionals. Demonstrated aptitude for performing in an environment of continuous change and learning. Experience with clinical software including TIMS DICOM software and Connect Care. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications:5 years' experience working with adults in urban inpatient/outpatient rehab. 2 years' experience with adult Head and Neck cancers. At least 1 year experience in adult palliative care. MBSImP training. Demonstrated pattern of professional development related to oncology care. Within the last year, use of virtual technology to deliver patient care.
