Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Allied Health and Specialty Services, the Speech Language Pathologist II will provide Speech-Language Pathology consultation services to adults living in a continuing care setting. This position offers the potential for significant professional development for self-directed individuals interested in working in an innovative and collaborative interdisciplinary environment. The incumbent will: Work with a variety of stakeholders in Facility and Supportive Living and CHOICE/Day Programs to provide clinical consultation, assessment, treatment, and education in the areas of communication and dysphagia. Focus on knowledge transfer to increase capacity for clients, families and caregivers using a participation model approach. develop and deliver client specific and site-based treatment interventions as well as client, family and staff education. Enhance client care outcomes through expert clinical practice, mentorship, consultation, counseling and research. Provide clinical placement experiences for SLP students.

Description:

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aide you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with program development, implementation of educational programs and change management is recommended. Certification with CASLPA is recommended. Training and experience in the area of dysphagia management is preferred. Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of two (2) years related professional experience in a multi-disciplinary team setting, with adult and/or geriatric clients who exhibit complex communication disorders is preferred. Demonstrated mentorship ability, leadership skills and excellence in interpersonal and communication skills are desirable. Previous supervision of students is an asset. Experience in a continuing care setting is an asset.
