Your Opportunity:Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan. FMC has a Neuro Tertiary Unit as well as the majority of In-Patient Neurological services in Calgary. The present caseload for this position is in Acute Team, with the potential for coverage on any unit/service as required. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations. The successful incumbent will show proficiencies in the following areas: Interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team such as Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Recreational Therapists. Self-direction and independent decision making, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. Time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a dynamic environment. Effective communication to facilitate a patient and family centered focus. Problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Creating innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. This position can be physically demanding, requiring transferring of patients and/or equipment. FMC is considered the hub for in patient tertiary neurology in the Calgary zone. This position will expose you to a unique caseload providing you with a robust experience in communication treatment and interdisciplinary care. You will have the opportunity to work closely with a highly experienced SLP team eager to help you learn and grow.Description:As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:Experience within the last 12 months working as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in an acute care setting. Experience within the last 12 months assessing and treating adult patients with dysphagia and swallowing disorders, including completion of MBS studies. Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification issue with the last 12 months prior to commencement of employment. Preferred Qualifications:Experience providing SLP communication treatments to patients with Neurological impairments included but not limited to stroke or brain injury. Experience within the last 12 months completing Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) studies with adults.Please note:All postings close at 23:59 MT of the posting end date indicated.Security Screening:A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work.
