Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Allied Health, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) screens, assesses, rehabilitates, counsels and educates patients and their families regarding speech, voice, language, communication and/or swallowing disorders. The SLP is also responsible for the organization and ongoing development of SLP services in the hospital and for communication with other community agencies. The incumbent will hold current registration with the College of Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology of Ontario (CASLPO).
Requirements of the job
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
Current registration with the College of Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology of Ontario
Demonstrated ability to manage caseload volumes
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
Experience in acute care hospital setting, including sub-acute stroke unit
Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French - and testing completed)
Assets:
Membership with Speech-Language & Audiology Canada.
BCLS Certification
