As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant with VCH you will:

• Work under the operational supervision of the Program Manager, practice supervision of the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) practice leader, and the work direction of the designated SLP, to carry out established rehabilitation activities within the SLP scope of practice.
• Receive assignments and implement lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of the SLP care plans.
• Collect data as directed and report relevant observations of client progress and needs.
• Organize equipment and supplies for activities, organizes and clean equipment, and maintain established inventory of supplies.

ABOUT HOME HEALTH PROGRAMS:


Home Health programs provide a range of health care and support services to people living in the community who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs.


THE CLIENT POPULATION:

Home Health clients typically have on-going health issues and/or complex personal and/or social issues, requiring care planning and coordination of appropriate resources. Clients include frail elderly, younger clients with disabilities, and adults with chronic illnesses requiring supports to maintain/promote independence. Raven Song serves the midtown area including Olympic Village, Mount Pleasant, Main Street and Riley Park neighbourhoods. Qualifications:
Education & Experience

• Completion of an accredited Rehabilitation Assistant Program that includes theory and clinical practice experiences pertaining to the field of speech and language therapy or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid BC Driver?s License is required. Use of personal vehicle may be required for local area travel.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
