The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is a large teaching hospital and strives to provide excellent patient centered care through ongoing mentorship, education and implementation of evidence informed and best practice strategies. The Professional Practice Lead (PPL) advances professional practice for the discipline to support excellence in patient and family centred care. This position acts to align planning and policy development, service delivery and evaluation for the RAH) Speech Language Pathology (SLP) teams/staff. The PPL acts as a key resource for staff, programs and site/local leadership for evidence-based practices, professional standards and ethics, and legislative requirements for the profession. This position leads quality improvement initiatives, program development, evaluation and knowledge translation based on patient, population, site and program needs. The PPL provides SLP expertise to managers and directors to meet their needs (scope of practice, emerging trends, staff mix, service models, outcomes and targets). The PPL participates in practice-informed decision making to support the achievement of site, Speech Therapy and Allied health goals. This position will provide Advanced Level Clinical Service, complex consultation and/or case management in an area of expertise. As well as supervision and mentoring including preceptoring students, evaluating effectiveness of clinical services and adjusts as appropriate. Description:

As a Speech Language Pathologist III, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral leader to other healthcare professionals (Speech Language Pathologists, Assistants). You will facilitate the development and on-going monitoring of clinical standards of practice for speech language pathology and patient (client, resident) care protocols in the department and geographical area. In collaboration with management, you will support the development, implementation and evaluation of the department\'s operational plan strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master\'s degree in Speech Language Pathology. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years\' experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in a large urban acute care hospital working with a variety of patient populations. Greater than 2 years\' experience performing Instrumental swallowing and bedside dysphagia assessments. Evidence of demonstrated leadership experience in strategic planning, leading change and evaluation. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrate knowledge and engagement in Speech Language Pathology related to best and leading practices, governance, legislation, ethics, current issues and trends. Demonstrated ability to guide and lead teams, build partnerships and foster effective relationships. Preferred Qualifications:

Membership in the Speech-Language & Audiology Canada is preferred.
