Job Description

Within this out-patient role, the Speech-Language Pathologist will conduct thorough case histories, complete clinical bedside assessments, and perform videofluoroscopic swallow studies and/or fiberoptic endoscopic evaluations of swallowing to best meet the patient needs. The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide comprehensive rehabilitation and management of swallowing disorders, as appropriate, as well as consultation to other Speech-Language Pathologists with regards to adult dysphagia in Hamilton and the surrounding region.
Qualifications * Master's level degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university

• Current registration and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
• Three years of recent experience in the area of dysphagia assessment, management, and counselling
• Minimum one year experience with a varied adult caseload (ie. neurological conditions, cancer care, gastroenterology, etc.)
• Comprehensive knowledge of the diseases, conditions, and functional impairments that form the etiological bases for swallowing disorders.
• Experience with Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS) required. Must have a strong understanding of swallowing physiology, kinematics, and timing, as well as the interconnectedness of the pharyngeal and esophageal phases of the swallow.
• Experience with Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) preferred
