SUMMARY:

The Specialized Educator will offer support to TFN children and families. The specialized educator will also collaborate with the Psychoeducator in the implementation of intervention plans for children with special needs and participate in the screening of children

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Apply the intervention plan with the Child Collaborates with the Psychoeducator in the implementation of the intervention plan for children with special needs Participates in the screening of children Participates in team meetings and presents the follow-up of children with special needs Collaborates and communicates with parents and various professionals regarding the progress of children in their case load Assist in developing tools, methods and activities that promote optimal child development and safety Collaborate with various community projects for the well-being of families Work in various environments as needed in order to meet children and families in their daily living environments (Health Centre, School, Daycare, home, etc.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

College (DEC), DEC in Specialized Education or related field Experience would be an asset Fluent in English and able to communicate in French (oral and written) Provide a background check with the vulnerable sector or willing to obtain Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of Timiskaming First Nation (TFN) services, administrative and operational policies and procedures Demonstrated thorough knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, and perspectives Knowledge of intervention with children and families Knowledge of the characteristics of child development Ability to listen, non-judgment, empathy, patience Professional objectivity Ability to work in a team in co-operation Sense of initiative and and creativity Good adaptation capacity Proficiency in Microsoft Office software

Pay: $40,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
