We have an exciting opportunity for a Publications Specialist to join our Medical team. The Publications Specialist serves as the primary contact for publication-related inquiries at the local affiliate level. As Specialist, you will collaborate with local Medical and Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) teams and Global Publications on high quality publications to contribute to the maximization and optimization of local data.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary point of contact and subject matter expert for our Affiliate's publication activities, which include collaborate with our local Medical Affairs and Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) teams, contribute to the development and implementation of the Canadian publication strategy and tactical plan, oversee the management and monitoring of our Affiliate's publication activities (e.g. budget and resource planning, tracking of publication activities and reviewing publication plan regularly).
  • Organize and perform regular medical and HEOR staff trainings on publication process, including initial training during on-boarding of new medical and HEOR staff.
  • Maintain current awareness of and serve as a resource to publication leads and external authors on good publication practices, editorial policies and AbbVie procedures and policies.
  • Conduct and support editorial review of writing for publication.
  • Manage and coordinate external contractors in the development of papers (including maintaining a central schedule for the yearly publication plan).
Education / Experience required:
  • Bachelor degree in Life Sciences or chemistry-related topics.
  • Relevant experience with solid knowledge of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Publications, Medical Affairs, or Medical Communications at pharmaceutical companies or medical communication agencies (minimum of three years).
  • Project management or business transformation role experience.
  • Leading in a multitask environment as well as in a virtual and matrix organization experience.
  • Customer Relationship Management systems, platforms and methodologies.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver high quality presentations
  • Ability to think and plan strategically (work plans, activities, timetables, targeting) and operating with execution excellence.
  • General knowledge on drug development and clinical research (including design, conduct, statistical analysis methods and reporting).
  • Familiarity with Good Publication Practice, ICMJE guidelines and other applicable industry guidelines.
  • Familiarity with ICH/GCP and relevant SOPs.
Essential skills and abilities:
  • Advanced French and English language proficiency (oral and written).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must be at ease with technology (the use of various tools/systems to perform day-to-day tasks).
  • Digital technologies, including but not limited to web, app, email, and mobile tactics experience
