POSITION OVERVIEW
The Compliance Assurance and Monitoring (\xe2\x80\x98CAM\xe2\x80\x99) Group is a second line of defense function with the accountability to monitor quality, consistency and reliability in transactions as well as reviewing enterprise activities to provide assurance of compliance to policies and regulations. CAM reviews transactions, processes, procedures, reports, and other information and conducts testing to assess reliability, accuracy, completeness of information and assesses whether governance, risk management and control processes are operating as intended.
The Specialist, CAM leads the implementation and ongoing delivery of BDC\xe2\x80\x99s testing program of internal controls and compliance responsibilities. Incumbent roles specifically include:
Conducting transaction testing in order to identify risk trends and develop recommendations to improve controls and compliance
Conducting corporate and business activity reviews and testing in order to assess enterprise compliance to regulations and governance compliance controls
Participates in the effectiveness testing of regulatory compliance controls
Lead reviews into New Products and Business Initiatives to identify potential control gaps.
Provide insight into the optimization of processes, training, and communication in order to reduce transaction and compliance risks
Perform other Compliance-related duties, as assigned
The Specialist works at the national level and reports to the Assistant Vice President, BQR.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Review transactions, including documentation, to confirm compliance to regulatory and corporate compliance framework, adherence to directives, procedures and enterprise business rules.
Identify, document, report and communicate trends, issues, opportunities and threats related to transactions, products, processes and governance requirements
Prepare reports summarizing the findings, make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of controls as well as compliance with corporate policies, directives, and industry guidelines. Validate the implementation of such recommendations.
Serve as a reference in the interpretation and application of credit risk policies, directives, rules, guides, and procedures.
Keep abreast of key legal, compliance, market risk and credit risk issues.
Participate to committees and projects on behalf of the BQR Group
Assist the Assistant Vice President in establishing CAM\xe2\x80\x99s annual plan by providing input on developing a matrix of regions, types of loans, industry sectors, level of adjudication, etc.
Assist in the execution of compliance assessments on the adequacy and effectiveness of regulatory internal controls and the delivery of compliance reporting to BDC\xe2\x80\x99s management committees and the Board.
Support the implementation of data initiatives to automate transaction testing and compliance reviews.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in finance, Accounting or business administration
7-10 years in a lending role, or equivalent experience
Strong credit and analytical skills
Knowledge of financial institutions\xe2\x80\x99 policies, directives, guidelines and regulatory compliance environment (preferred)
Ability to effectively communicate in French and English
Autonomy, thoroughness, and good priority management
Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships
Strong interpersonnel and communication skills
Effective coaching skills
