The Dovercourt Boys and Girls Club is a not for profit organization that provides afterschool, summer and March break programs for over 1,000 children and youth at two locations in Toronto's west end.The mission of the Club is to provide a safe and supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.Role DescriptionPosition: Special Projects and Events CoordinatorStart Date: Immediately - January 2023 (with possibility of extension)Reports to: Executive DirectorSalary: Commensurate with experience and qualificationsKey Responsibilities Lead the planning and execution of all events and project logistics, (including pre, during and post event/project) ensuring all deliverables are met within outlined timelines. Create and deliver status reports which will document the progress and success of all projects and events. Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning administrative projects and expediting work results. Assist senior management in coordinating annual events and drives, such as: Christmas Hamper Program, Harvest Festival, St. Patrick's Day Parade etc. Coordinate volunteers' schedules and activities and promote future opportunities of volunteering to the public. Contact and work with local businesses to garner donations. Develop community partnerships which will facilitate the donation process and create new event opportunities. Respond to inquiries from the public and from various stakeholders in regards to projects. Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications & Skills At least 2 years of postsecondary education (Bachelor's degree preferred) in Communications, Event Planning, Project Management and/or Fundraising. Related work experience may be substituted for education. A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience providing administrative support to management or office management experience. Non-profit experience a plus. Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills. Ability to process vague, abstract verbal and written instructions to create effective plans, etc. Proven skills to interact effectively with volunteers in order to direct work flow, assess performance and assign duties. Ability to assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions and evaluate results of performance. Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs at the same time. Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check. (mandatory) Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).Job Type: Fixed term contractSchedule:
