If so, please consider this Special Events Assistant role to assist the Visitor Experiences Coordinator with the coordination and delivery of special events, concerts, festivals and attractions at Fort William Historical Park (FWHP).

What can I expect to do in this role?

The Special Events Assistant assists the Visitor Experiences Coordinator at Fort William Historical Park (FWHP) in planning, developing, coordinating and implementing a wide array of heritage and contemporary events, including musical festivals, historical re-enactments, cultural expositions and artisan markets.

This dynamic role will also participate in coordinating an annual FWHP event cycle which includes event planning, delivery, administration, and post-event evaluation; assisting in the compilation event feedback from staff, partners and participants; and working with the Visitor Experiences Coordinator by completing research assignments for special events to develop program content and define market interest.is trending and what is current.

  • Oral communication and interpersonal skills to represent FWHP to community partners, entertainers, performers, agents and the public and to exchange information on special events.
  • Customer service skills to support FWHP's service excellence model.


Research and Analytical Skills

  • Research and analytical skills to complete research assignments for special events; compile information on potential new initiatives.


Event Planning Skills & Initiative

  • Initiative to support and assist the Coordinator in event planning, development and delivery; update information, compile feedback and track progress; follow up on paperwork to meet deadlines.


Problem Solving Skills

  • Problem-solving skills to resolve or refer customer service issues/problems arising at events.
