JOB PURPOSE: The York School seeks a dedicated Spanish Educator to inspire and educate students in Grade 7, 8, 10 and 11. We are in search of an Ontario Certified Teacher with a strong background in teaching Spanish as a second language. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in nurturing students\' language skills and cultural understanding. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach within the IB framework and philosophy
  • Prepare course objectives, lesson plans and outline for course of study, following IB and ministry curriculum guidelines, and deliver program
  • Incorporate technology in lessons to enhance the classroom experience
  • Ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking
  • Establish and enforce student expectations with disciplinary strategies for an effective teaching and learning environment
  • Supervision duties as well as other duties related to the position
  • Participate in collaborative planning, committees and meetings
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • Must have an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Certificate, Intermediate or Senirio Division
  • Training and experience teaching the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with the Managebac and Blackboard learning platforms considered an asset
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with students, parents and teachers cheerfully, enthusiastically, courteously, patiently and with discretion
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • A proactive team player who is flexible and self-motivated with a \xe2\x80\x9cHow can I help?\xe2\x80\x9d attitude
  • Proficiency in Google Applications considered an asset
