As Spa Director at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, you will be responsible for the establishment and execution of clear short-term and long-term goals to ensure the spa enhances the resort feel and Service Promise. These goals must ensure Employee Satisfaction, Guest Satisfaction, Financial Success, Health and Safety and Environmental Stewardship. The Spa Director is responsible for the daily leadership of the spa operations ensuring all productivity and expense controls are followed as well as ensuring all revenue opportunities are capitalized upon.Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Direct overall operation of facility including short and long range strategic planning.
  • Establish and ensure execution of all departmental goals.
  • Manage, train, and motivate all personnel reporting to this position.
  • Serve as a link between Hotel and the Spa industry.
  • Meet with group meeting planners to show spa facility and programs as required.
  • Promote and sell customized spa programs to conference groups as required.
  • Tour prospective spa clients.
  • Market the spa to attract business and PR through local vendor relationships, periodicals, women\xe2\x80\x99s groups etc.
  • Role-model professional delivery of all information on the telephone and in person to potential spa guests.
  • Promote all hotel and spa packages and promotions.
  • Identify new business and marketing opportunities and assist in the implementation of 12-month marketing plan.
  • Work efficiently with Hotel Public Relations in all aspects of spa / hotel and assist in the implementation of 12-month public relations program ie. calendar of events, media releases, etc.
  • Work with advertising and promotion as required.
  • Work with Hotel & Regional Sales and Marketing as required.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of competitors, including location, product offering, pricing, and promotions, including sales techniques.
  • Administrate and implement staff training in all aspects of the Spa\xe2\x80\x99s operations ie. Guest relations, Spa services, Retail sales
  • Ensure effective communication among all departments within the hotel.
  • Establish professional business relationship with all vendors and develop par product inventories.
  • Ensure adherence of standard operating procedures for each department.
  • Establish ongoing administrative controls.
  • Assist in the recruitment, development and training of all department heads and support staff.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
  • Ensure effective weekly/monthly departmental communication meetings.
  • Ensure availability for colleague and manager inquiries.
  • Ensure visual presence within department for all spa staff.
  • Ensure colleagues have a complete understanding and adhere to the Hotel\'s policy relating to health, safety and wellness.
  • Have complete understanding of and adhere to all company policies and rules including those relating to Fire, Hygiene and Safety
  • Assist in the development and adherence of all departmental Emergency Procedures.
  • Ensure all Spa colleagues are well versed in emergency procedures.
  • Actively lead fiscal budgeting and analysis, including the development of annual budgets for the departments within the facility.
  • Monitor payroll hours.
  • Monitor scheduling of all services and special programming.
  • Submit month-end profit and loss statement and variance reports
  • Measure spa actual performance to budget.
  • Administer operations and capital improvement budget preparation
  • Review purchase requisitions and expenditures to ensure they are in keeping within a zero based operating expense budget.
  • Review of remuneration of all salaried employees and independent contractors.
  • Ensure Spa department maintains a positive relationship with all departments in the Hotel.
  • Attend / chair weekly individual and group manager meetings
  • Lead development of facility\'s Manpower plans.
  • Lead development and follow-up of spa managers\xe2\x80\x99 goals.
  • Establish short-term and long-term goals for each supervisor and review status of each goal on a monthly basis.
  • Attend spa outlet meetings ie. Body Tech, Aesthetics
  • Responsible for supervising all aspects of employees ie. hiring, recognition, progressive corrective action, etc.
  • Ensure appropriate job task training programs are in place for all Spa colleagues.
  • Ensure all Spa colleagues adhere to all hotel standards as stated in the employee handbook.
  • Ensure performance appraisals are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the facility is in peak operating condition at all times.
  • Ensure guest/member satisfaction at all times by ensuring that safety and service is always the Spa\'s first priority.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in management position in a Resort Spa or related field.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Business Administration desired, but not required.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry an asset.
  • Human Resources experience an asset.
  • Desire to provide phenomenal guest experiences.
