We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and hard-working Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager to join our micro culinary team. This person will work very closely with the Head Chef/Owner Katie in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring a flawless aesthetic and exceptional food quality, while maintaining efficiency and timely delivery of off-site and boxed catering.
This role requires adaptability, strong leadership, creativity, and a passion for beautiful food and impeccable client experiences. This role will include preparing cold and hot small bites, canapes and hors d'oeuvres, salads, buffet displays and preparing cheese and charcuterie for our Grazing Tables. Preparing ingredients, cleaning, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations, regardless of the tasks required to do so. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food, hospitality and client experiences, that is prepared to HUSTLE and eager to learn in a fast-paced, dynamic, unconventional kitchen environment. We are a small business and you will have to prepare and cook, not just delegate.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef/Owner in food preparation and kitchen management.
Ensure all food is prepared according to our recipes, robust presentation standards, and quality control measures.
Handle kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef/Owner.
General kitchen tasks and chores like food preparation, chopping, slicing, cleaning, proper storage of food items, adhering to food safety standards.
Supervising other kitchen staff ensuring tasks are completed to high standards. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and feedback.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment; cleaning kitchen surfaces, equipment, cleaning dishes and removing garbage daily.
Oversee inventory management, including receiving, and storing food supplies.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and workstations, following food safety and sanitation standards.
Requirements:
Previous kitchen experience in a professional kitchen is required (current culinary students are welcome so long as you are a natural leader with robust kitchen skills).
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Valid AHS food safety certification.
Ability to multitask and work well under extreme pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment.
You MUST have an aggressive attention to detail, and a fierce and graceful sense of urgency - this is an absolute non-negotiable - you must work FAST and FLAWLESS.
Strong communication and multitasking skills.
Flexible schedule including very early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
