PRIMARY FUNCTION




The Sous Chef plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation in the kitchen, ensuring efficient service and supporting the Head Chef in various operational aspects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



Uphold superior food quality and presentation standards across all hotel food outlets. Ensure efficient cooking times during service. Assist the Head Chef in hiring, training, and disciplining kitchen personnel. Train kitchen staff in preparation techniques, station cleanliness, health and safety procedures, inventory management, and time management skills. Collaborate in menu planning and development. Assist in inventory management, paperwork, ordering, and maintaining kitchen cost controls. Oversee adherence to Health & Safety regulations, ensuring cleanliness, product rotation, and staff training in food safety. Be present during peak service times and in the Chef's absence. Assist in preparation and planning for event tastings and customer requests. Manage food preparation for staff cafeteria in the Chef's absence. Generate new revenue ideas and improvements within the kitchen. Maintain professional communication in the kitchen and with other departments. Foster a motivated, positive team environment in the kitchen.

EXPERIENCE




2-4 years of supervisory/practical kitchen experience. Culinary education or equivalent experience is beneficial. In-depth knowledge of food safety and handling procedures. Effective time management and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. Ability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Physical capability for tasks involving standing, bending, and lifting. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
