About the Role
The Assistant Manager (AM), Somenos Transition House works in close collaboration with the Program Manager to provide leadership, supervision, and operational support at Somenos House. This position ensures that services are delivered in alignment with CWAVS' trauma-informed, culturally safe, and feminist values.
As a key leader in the program, the AM also supports implementation of the Cedar Blankets initiative, CWAVS' Indigenization pilot project, and holds on-call responsibilities to support staff and residents with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision
Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to staff in alignment with CWAVS' values.
Participate in staff hiring, coaching, training, and supervision.
Hold on-call responsibilities for both client and staffing concerns.
Support staff development, collaborative team culture, and internal communication.
Cedar Blankets Initiative
Actively model and implement the Cedar Blankets pilot project.
Support staff and resident engagement in cultural safety and reconciliation practices.
Coordinate training opportunities and seek external partnerships with Indigenous community members.
Program Operations
Coordinate staff scheduling and sign off on payroll.
Assist with administration, reporting, and compliance with funder requirements.
Track reconciliation, purchasing, and program financials.
Support office operations and contribute to continuous improvement.
Client Services
Provide direct support to residents as needed (crisis support, advocacy, conflict resolution).
Assist staff with debriefing and resource navigation.
Step into staff roles during emergencies if required.
Facility Oversight
Monitor and report on day-to-day maintenance needs.
Collaborate with the Program Manager on purchasing and renovation planning.
What You Bring Required Qualifications
2-4 years' leadership or supervisory experience in a residential or social service setting.
Strong understanding of Indigenization, reconciliation, and trauma-informed practices.
Direct experience supporting women, children, and survivors of violence.
A feminist lens and strong analysis of gender-based violence.
Class 5 driver's license and clean abstract.
Current First Aid/CPR certification.
Approved Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector).
Preferred Assets
Degree or equivalent experience in social work, counselling, or related field.
Familiarity with transition house settings and BCSTH standards.
Administrative and financial coordination experience.
