A Day In the life of a Shelter Assistant Manager....
Your drive to work was glorious as usual and traffic free. The spectacular views of the river and canyon are breathtaking and never get old. As you pull off the exit, you wonder what adventure the day will bring.
You pull into House of Hope and see a guest, Sam, drinking his morning coffee. A quick hello and smile from the guest say it all, today will be a great day.
As you enter the shelter, you greet the night staff. A quick huddle at the huddle board brings you up to speed with the recent activities in and around the shelter.
You smile as you reflect on Ginny, a new guest at the shelter. Staff shared with you that she has found safe and secure housing in Hope, and she is excited to move into her new home. Staff are equally as excited as they chatted about the resources available to Ginny.
After your morning check-ins with the Guests and staff teams, you head down the road to the 900 Shelter. A quick 2-minute drive, and it takes no time to reach the driveway to the Shelter.
A group of people sit at the gazebo drinking their morning coffees, catching up on the programs and activities available that day. The lounge is a favorite place for everyone to enjoy different groups and daily activities. People discuss which guest will be running the coffee shop today, and there is no lack of volunteers.
You sit down at your desk after another team huddle. You open your inbox and start organizing your tasks for the day. As you work through emails, you begin to smell the rich aroma of breakfast! Perfect timing for you because you are famished. You head to the common area to share a meal with your teammates and guests.
