The Solutions Architect will lead, guide, evaluate & define the appropriate architectural strategy and technology-based solutions to align business objectives with Information Services (IS) strategies. Mindful of the comprehensive cost of ownership & required investment for future, the Solutions Architect contributes to the development of all styles and patterns of architecture solutions \xe2\x80\x93 and can easily articulate how technology choices affect current and future business value.

Design

Develop and implement architectural processes (governance and operational) to gather requirements, obtain business consensus, perform vendor and product evaluations, deliver solutions, including thorough documentation.

Design implementation, migration, and interface strategies within assigned applications and/or projects to facilitate conformance to CWB technology architectures. Responsible for continuity across integration projects through standards enforcement.

Provide technical guidance and ensure solutions are consistent with architectural direction and consist of approved technologies and reusable assets. Actively seeks ways to re-use components to improve ROI on assets.

Analyses user requirements taking into consideration interfaces with other CWB systems, as well as hardware and software limitations and develops options to satisfy user requirements and optimize reliability and availability.

Strategize

Resolves complex issues of an operational and/or applications nature or issues. Leads IS and/or project management through a process of narrowing a problem statement to settle on an overall scope and approach to solve it.

Identifies gaps and maintains a repository and their associated roadmaps as architectural assets.

Identifies opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of supported applications.

Create and manage technology strategy and roadmap to influence IS decision making.

Research and evaluate emerging and maturing technologies to facilitate the identification, introduction, and exploitation of technologies for solutions.

Lead

Identifies opportunities for IS to ensure high quality in all deliverables and continuous improvement in solution definition and delivery.

Oversee the creation, delivery and approval of detailed functional and design specifications being produced by developers and/or vendors and review test plans. Ensure all architecture goals are communicated as work transactions to detailed specifications prior to any construction beginning.

Documents formal architecture definition per solution where IT components and IS services are needed, filling any gaps, and shows traceability back to business and functional requirements.

Provides feasibility documents, solution diagrams, rough cost estimates, and comparative viewpoints as supporting material to help make decisions.

Promotes the Enterprise Architecture function and advocates benefits of longer term or more holistic thinking

Successful incumbent

This role requires an individual fueled by curiosity to uncover, investigate, and understand complex problems. And then solution them. Highly analytical with methodical & logical thought processes. Armed with technical expertise and broad business acumen they can translate key business requirements into architectural deliverables. Both relatable and influential \xe2\x80\x93 at all levels. Acute listening & communication skills. This role requires someone highly organized & proficient, confident in attaining desired goals and who will seek out failure to achieve & sustain required results - committed to getting the right solution, every time. Exercises critical judgement in the face of total ambiguity. Agile and adaptable, able to understand the big picture while expertly functioning in the minutiae. This key role demands commitment and persistence to achieving and continuing a heightened state of optimization. You must be a lifelong learner with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Core knowledge requirements

College diploma or university degree desired, equivalent relevant experience accepted.

Enterprise architecture certification is desirable, such as TOGAF.

Expert knowledge of messaging systems, adapter technologies and web services.

Knowledge of Enterprise Data Architecture, Data Warehouse and ETL.

Knowledge of all components of an enterprise technical architecture.

Strong understanding of information and integration architectures, common solution architecture patterns and frameworks, and application development methodologies.

Demonstrated experience

Ten years of progressive experience in Information Services covering a broad technical range with a variety of application systems and technologies.

Five years working experience in an architecture position dealing with enterprise level applications/solutions.

Experience must include leading and defining architectural strategy, standards, and governance.

Experience in the design and construction of solution architectures that enable well integrated transactional, collaborative, and analytical systems. Developed architecture solutions to address complex needs of the organisation, at the enterprise level.

Background in software development and system enhancements, preferably in the financial industry. A practical and pragmatic understanding of integration is essential.

Demonstrated ability to translate strategic requirements into reusable enterprise solution architecture.

Fluent in the use of multiple technologies (programming languages, databases, middleware, development tools, system software, networks, security).
