Company Summary
The Peel District School Board (PDSB) is a racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse board that serves 155,000+ students and approximately 17,000 employees. Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, SIS Modernization, the successful applicants will be responsible for designing, building, deploying, and documenting student-centered technology solutions in a hybrid cloud environment. As part of a technology modernization team, the successful candidates will gather, and document business requirements based on stakeholder discussions and an understanding of legacy systems. The Solution Architects will work with the Database Administrators to determine components of existing technology solutions while maintaining service levels and interfaces with other systems. This role will work closely with operation teams to ensure that technology solutions are secure, resilient, and scalable. The successful candidates will provide guidance to junior analysts and work closely with internal departments to ensure business processes are not compromised with new solutions. New features and applications will be architected and created using modern web development tools and techniques. The Solution Architects welcome the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, learn new things and adapt to a dynamic and evolving technical and business SIS.
Qualifications

  • University degree or College diploma in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Three years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as an architect with a mid-large sized organization
  • Three years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with modern web development tools, frameworks and best practices
  • Experience creating and working with REST APIs
  • Experience with Oracle DBMS, SQL, PL/SQL, Java, and ORACLE APEX would be an asset
  • Experience collecting and documenting business requirements
  • Strong software testing and implementation skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with Board personnel and members of the public and vendors
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
  • Record of strong on-the-job performance while employed by the Peel District School Board (where applicable)
