Job Summary
The successful candidate will work under the direction and supervision of Senior Legal Counsel, HR Legal Services Department and will report administratively to the Vice President, Human Resources, NL Health Services. This position will provide legal services to clients located in all of the Zones within NL Health Services on a broad range of human resources premised issues including, but not limited to: Drafting and/or review of legal documents and agreements, managing litigation, attendance at Hearings on the behalf of NL Health Services, advising senior leadership on employment, labour, human rights, privacy, contracts and other matters as may arise. Experience in administrative law would be considered an asset.

Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor\'s Degree in Law is required.

Experience
A minimum of five years\' experience of legal practice evidencing strong litigation, analytical and negotiation skills.
Experience in a general practice or in house counsel setting would be considered an asset.
Experience in administrative law would be considered an asset.
Equivalent experience may be considered.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
A required strong understanding of general legal principles and an ability to maintain a diverse legal practice.
High level of interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills in order to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff at all levels of the organizations and with all external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and changing workload requirements.
Demonstrated superior oral and written communication skills.

Other
Must be eligible for membership or be an active member, in good standing, with the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
This position will provide support to other Solicitors\' within the HR Legal Services Department as may be required.
Occasional travel within the Province will be required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
