As a Software Development Manager with a strong technical background, you will be reporting to the Senior Director, Development and leading our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building and scaling web applications, as well as leading and mentoring technical teams.

For this role, you should be located in Canada, and able to work within EST/EDT hours. We offer a choice of fully remote, partially remote or fully office-based work environments (in cities with local offices).

What you\'ll be responsible for:

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead a team of software developers in the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality software.
  • Teach, mentor and grow team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
Technical Expertise:
  • Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of web applications using Golang and React.
  • Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability.
  • Review and approve code changes, ensuring adherence to best practices and existing design patterns.
Collaboration:
  • Work closely with product managers, SRE\'s, designers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize product features and requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and peers to ensure smooth deployment and integration of software solutions.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in software development, especially in Golang and React.
  • Recommend and implement best practices, tools, and processes to continuously improve software delivery efficiency.

What you\'ll be bringing to the team
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related experience.
  • At least 8 years of software development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Golang and React with at least [3 years in each; e.g., "5 years in Golang and 3 years in React"].
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience building solutions for the cloud.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for technical challenges.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Even better if you have, but not necessary:
  • Experience with pub/sub software architecture
  • Experience with operational transformation technology
  • Experience with google cloud technologies (Spanner, BigTable, etc.)
